Zen Moments - At The Lake 02

A piece from my Zen Moments portfolio, At the Lake series.
This leaf was caught on the limb of a tree along the beach.
A splash of fall color amongst the browns and greens.

Deep in the Forest... Original Photography by Texas Contemporary Artist Denise Bossarte

Deep in the Forest... Original Photography by Texas Contemporary Artist Denise Bossarte

"Deep in the forest
darkened by the thunderstorms,
mushrooms are glowing"

The mushrooms were out in force today.
Went out to the Houston Arboretum but the front came through quickly.
The cloud cover made things pretty dark under the trees
and the rain was soaking me quite thoroughly.
Thank goodness for straw hats and water proof jackets
to keep my head and the camera dry.

Texas Crepe Myrtles in Bloom by Texas Photographer Laurie Pace

Crepes in Bloom

© Laurie Pace Graphics One Design

Nothing is better on a hot Texas day when it is over one hundred degrees outside, to take in the beauty of the Crepe Myrtle in full bloom. They come in different colors and at our house on the lake, we had every color there was.  Looking forward to planting my crepe myrtles this fall when the heat breaks.

Trying out my new Canon camera on the flowers at Hermann Park.
Thinking of adding this one to the Behind the Scenes portfolio of the backs of flowers.
I love the soft contrast between the colors and the drops of dew holding to the petals.

Morning sunlight is wonderful for highlighting these intimate moment with flowers.
Although the spider might have moved on, her web is still present
and making an interesting architecture of the flower.

I admit it... I LOVE sunflowers. Especially when back-lit by the morning sun.
Here is a sampling I shot this morning at the Houston Arboretum and Nature Center.
Yep, Houston has two arboretums and I love going to both of them.

These are taken with my new macro lens and my new camera,
which I am still learning how to use.
Just found out today you can dynamically set the focus by moving the
focus rectangle around on the LCD with your finger! How cool is that!!

Enjoy the Moment

Enjoy the process. Live within the moments of life. As you rush through situations you miss so much. Difficult places often come to slow you down. Then you can enjoy the whisper of butterfly wings, the water droplet atop a flower petal along with the words and smiles of others who touch your life.

There is beauty within the moment. Slow down and enjoy them. Don't rush the moment. Just as surely as you would cripple a butterfly if you caused it to come forth from its chrysalis too soon. So you cripple the simple joys and pleasures of life by rushing through them.

Look for the moments to be enjoyed. Breathe deeply the fresh air they leave behind. Embrace the joys and simple pleasures of life.

Continuing my work at Mercer Arboretum and Botanic Gardens
finding photos for a portfolio competition with my theme of
photographing flowers from the back rather than the front.

Even though it was an overcast day, this magenta beauty just glowed with front lighting.
I loved the contrast between the sharp lines in the petals and the soft contours of the stem.

I got a new camera this week so I took advantage of the slightly overcast weather to try it out. The roses are blooming in Hermann Park and were a perfect challenge for the new lens.
Really like the camera and the flexibility I have with the focus, even on basic camera settings.
Thanks to my husband for helping me purchase the new camera and lenses!!

Basket of Blossoms by Suzan Madison Casey

“Baskets of Blossoms”

is a photo art captured from my porch swing as the sun began setting in the evening skies of West Texas. Flower blossoms wrap around your heart with their gentleness and calm by design. Just as surely, God’s love reaches for us in a myriad of beautiful ways.fineartamerica.com/

Alice at Sunset

"Alice at Sunset" was taken as the sun set on another peaceful day at the Estes Ranch in Midland, Texas. My husband, Scott, had ridden Alice to the watering hole for a final drink before retiring for the evening. The sunset caught their eyes. The spectacular colors God had splashed across the West Texas sky was breathtaking. God truly paints the most beautiful pictures.

Was in Monroe, LA this weekend to attend the opening reception of the 50TH ANNUAL JURIED COMPETITION where two of my abstract photos were being exhibited.
Got over to the Biedenharn Museum & Gardens on Saturday afternoon and shot these tulip abstracts. Got so engrossed, it took me a while to realize I had made myself a part of the backdrop for a group shooting wedding photos! I moved on after I caught these lovelies.

Slipped Boats - WR Jan 2013 Series 01 Denise Bossarte

WR Jan 2013 Series 01
20x16 photo

I was finally able to get outside on Sunday and shoot after all the rain.
The sun took a bit longer to come out than I hoped, so I was shooting in overcast conditions at <50 degrees with 20+ mph winds.
A bit of a challenge for chilled and shaky fingers, but still got good shots at my favorite fishing ponds!

This is available for purchase unframed $500.00.
